Invitations for a moment

I really feel letter press is one of the most beautiful printing techniques and it was what I had my heart set on for our invitations.
Well I received our wedding invitations on Saturday from Lettary Press. Her work was so beautiful! We are so happy with the job she did on our invitations and so happy we decided to use an etsy seller instead of a large print shop. Being a designer I did design them but her letter press technique came out fantastic and made them perfect!
I scurried about yesterday to make sure everything was addressed and in the mail by today. Since my handwriting is so awful I was luckily able to run the envelopes through my printer. We were finished by 7 and took them to the main post office that has a self serve lobby so we could weigh them and mail them. It was is so exciting!

Now maybe I can let myself relax a day or two :) at least until I go for my gown alterations!

the excitement is wonderfully overwhelming

My wedding is a little less than six months away. It really hit me last week when I finally called the reverend. I sent out my save the dates this morning and am trying to catch my breath! Letterypress wrote me today to tell me that my invitations would print the first week of April I am so excited about that!

I am enjoying all the planning and things that go into this. There is so much left to do, things I never would have thought of. And questions like how do I wear my hair? I prefer short hair but wouldn't a beehive just be awesome! And things like wow I wish I would stop biting my nails already I mean I am 30 now give it a break.

Please vote in our honeymoon poll! We are still trying to think of where to go that would also offer some vegan options.

I am thinking about attempting to make my own veil. I know there are so many options on etsy but have a bunch of tulle and am trying to imagine what I want to do with it.

I probably should focus on some other stuff awhile :)

These invitations and cards are really beautiful please stop by and have a look at Cheerupcherup's shop.

Who are you?

My name is Alaina Cherup. I live in Columbus, Ohio and make my living (for now) as a graphic artist in the advertising biz. I just recently graduated from college in 2006, and am still making a way for myself in this big world. I make wedding invitations and greeting cards that are a combination of creative digital design and crafting (hand assembling, sewing, etc)...

How did you get started?

I've always been attracted to the feminine side of design, and never really thought that commercial graphic design was my niche. I can't say there was a definitive way I got started designing cards and invitations. I CAN say the constant support from my husband and family has helped tremendously.

What inspires you?

Color, trash, nature, animals.. almost anything inspires me. Let me explain the trash.. I like incorporating recycled things into my cards, like Starbucks cozies. Their texture creates a nice visual appeal. Its amazing what you can make look really cool (like trash) by combining it with something else...
