Who are you?

My name is Sara and I am ''Sweet Shawty''! I am truly a ''Shawty'' at only 5 foot. I am a mom and a wife. It's so exciting to me to see things come to life step by step. I really like to dabble in as many media as possible. I try to make items that people have never seen before. I'm rather Silly. I love to laugh! I am completely in touch with my inner child! =)

How did you get started?

I get my talent from my Great-Great Grandmother. I've always loved to create things. Even when I was a little girl I would sit and try to make things (back then I was usually making things out of legos). Then as I got older, I would make things for my friends as gifts. Every one would always tell me I should try to make a living from my talent and so here I am selling my items on Etsy and Ebay.


What inspires you?

I get my inspiration from my husband. We actually feed off each other. My husband is an artist and when he is at home painting and using his talent it inspires me to go create myself. For my years I neglected my talent. I never made time for it. But he has helped bring it back to me, for which I am very grateful!

Your shop has a lot of items made from recycled materials. Do you want to share any eco friendly/recycling sort of tips?

I just want to say that we all should value this place we live. And by recycling we can do our part to try to keep this world a beautiful place.

Who are you?

My name is Alaina Cherup. I live in Columbus, Ohio and make my living (for now) as a graphic artist in the advertising biz. I just recently graduated from college in 2006, and am still making a way for myself in this big world. I make wedding invitations and greeting cards that are a combination of creative digital design and crafting (hand assembling, sewing, etc)...

How did you get started?

I've always been attracted to the feminine side of design, and never really thought that commercial graphic design was my niche. I can't say there was a definitive way I got started designing cards and invitations. I CAN say the constant support from my husband and family has helped tremendously.

What inspires you?
Color, trash, nature, animals.. almost anything inspires me. Let me explain the trash.. I like incorporating recycled things into my cards, like Starbucks cozies. Their texture creates a nice visual appeal. Its amazing what you can make look really cool (like trash) by combining it with something else...

Who are you?
I'm Robyn Vines Smith and I design and create in sunny Albuquerque, N.M. I'm inspired by colors, fabrics and yarns. I sew, crochet and knit and I'm also learning to spin and dye yarn. How did you get started?
I am self-taught in everything. I work full time as an editor, so sewing is a hobby for me right now. I began just making clothes for myself from store-bought patterns. Then, I wanted to design my own items. I took fashion design at a community college in Santa Fe. There, I was inspired to start my own business. I found that accessories were the way to go because I didn't have to worry about fit. I could just have fun and create and the items would be more or less universal. I feel the need to always make things, so I definitely need an outlet for moving them out of my home! I can only use so much stuff. Therefore, I'm really thankful for the opportunity the Internet and etsy.com provide for small, indie sellers.

What is your inspiration?
I'm inspired by fashion, color, fabric prints and yarns. Mostly, I just shop for yarns and fabrics and wait for that jolt of inspiration to strike when I come across the right thing. I feel very excited when I find the right item! I know right away what I want to make.

Smokey & the Bandit

So things are pretty gray here. We went to Kaya's Kitchen for some amazing, yummy, comforting vegan food. Then we spent the rest of the night watching Smokey and The Bandit because it is a pretty silly movie and I actually stayed awake until the end. It took my mind off of things for a little while as I wondered about the Bandit's plight as he out witted that Sheriff Buford T. Justice time and time again. As we watched the movie my black and white kitty Bandit sat next to my shoulder and my gray kitty Milo (aka pookie) who looks like a puff of smoke ran all over the house. Umi of course the regal cat she is sat on the radiator trying to keep warm as the temperature outside continued to drop. It is nice to be surrounded by so much love and reminds me of the things that are so important.

Today's picks are my tribute to Smokey and the Bandit.

freedom's just another word for...

I am at the end of a wonderfully relaxing 4 day weekend. I have spent my long weekend crafting, cleaning, taking photos and searching. I have been searching etsy for some of my favorite things.
Today being that it is Martin Luther King Day observed I have decided to feature a few of my favorite items that represent freedom.
